Our Story
It all started in a city, at a place, with a song.
People with no reason to know each other but every reason they should.
Whether it was a dream or something real...
La Ville Lumière
Paris, the City of Light, summer 2011. Each of us found our way to this city for different reasons… for work, for school, for love. What became true was a fascination with every aspect of Paris - the people, the food, the art, the attitude, the action. It was an idyllic summer, at least in our memories.
Silencio
At the far end of summer, David Lynch created a members club in the depths of the 2nd arrondissement, modeled after the mysterious Club Silencio in his film Mulholland Drive. Independently, the five of us were drawn to this place with a desire to meet others and dance until we could no more.
Que veux-tu
“Que veux-tu, je suis folle de toi. Mon coeur ne bat plus quand je te vois. What do you want, I'm crazy about you. My heart stops beating when I see you.” These words, her voice, this beat... Yelle was the soundtrack uniting us, out on the floor of Silencio, moving as only we could. Destiny. Kismet.
It was Real
The bond we formed that first night led to many nights and years of love, friendship, and respect. Our lives have led in myriad directions, to different places, with diverse careers in fashion, design, art, photography, and business, but a single idea brought us together again to create Lions of Paris.
Rules are Broken
The fashion industry is wasteful. Garments that are never worn. Water wasted to produce fabric from scarce resources. Underpaid, overworked, and mistreated human labor. A question spread among us: can we create a fashion brand that solves these problems? Yes! We use the latest technology to produce our clothing and offer only custom-made garments produced by responsible makers in the USA and Europe. We use inks that are recyclable, non-toxic and completely biodegradable so that we have zero impact on the planet and the climate. We are try our best to be responsible and make a difference.
Power and Drama
Art surrounds our lives in ways we don’t recognize. It seeps in subconsciously and allows us to decode our world and the daily barrage we face. Our style is an artistic inspiration, a mix of original art and casual form, of dramatic statement and minimal effort, of edgy elegance and active life.
A Lion in Paris
The cherry on top. One of our daughter's favourite books is “A Lion in Paris” by Beatrice Alemagna, about being a stranger in a new city and discovering one’s own identity. How apt! In the back of our minds are memories of the times we lived in Paris together. We felt like Lions! Join us - you will too.
Bisou Bisou!
